Our energy facilities produce clean, renewable energy at a low cost. Anaerobic digestion is a natural process, and as such, we don't have to rely on outside power to produce biogas. There are a few ways to use the biogas we create:
Combined Heat and Power
Cleaned biogas is used as fuel for a combined heat and power unit to produce electricity which can be used on site, or sent over existing transmission lines in certain regions. The amount of electricity varies depending on the size of the generator.
Compressed Natural Gas
Similar to natural gas, the biogas is dried and the impurities are removed in order to compress the natural gas into a vehicle grade transportation fuel. Vehicle fleets across the country are seeing the benefits of adding natural gas units to existing diesel fleets, or opting for new natural gas engine technology.
With the addition of further processes, the biogas we create can be refined and sent back into existing natural gas grid as "pipeline" grade natural gas. With the burgeoning demand for natural gas, our facilities can help increase natural gas pipeline supply.
